The tower was first lit in 1908 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows a red light, on and off for equal times, every 6 seconds, seen up to 12 nautical miles out. A red steel tower at the end of Algoma's north pier, the tower raised onto a taller base in 1932; it is seen from Crescent Beach.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Crescent Beach boardwalk, Algoma, 773 m (2,535 ft) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Wisconsin's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Wisconsin arrives.
