The tower was first lit in 1883 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows a white light, on and off for equal times, every 6 seconds, seen up to 12 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A square brick tower joined to the keeper's house, on the point at the north entrance to Sturgeon Bay; the station is not open to the public.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Old Ski Hill Overlook, Potawatomi State Park, 2.0 km (1.3 mi) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Wisconsin's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Wisconsin arrives.
