West Sister Island Lighthouse
The tower was first lit in 1848 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows one white flash every 4 seconds, seen up to 9 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A brick tower, its lantern removed, on an island that is a national wildlife refuge closed to visitors, about nine miles off the Ohio shore.
