Lighthouse · Lake Erie Islands, Ohio

Green Island Lighthouse

The tower, first lit in 1864, is dark now. The working light, one white flash every 2.5 seconds, stands nearby, about 80 m away. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The burned-out stone shell of the lighthouse stands among trees on a small island west of South Bass Island, a state wildlife area closed to visitors; a skeleton tower nearby carries the light.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Perry’s Victory memorial deck, Put-in-Bay, 4.8 km (3.0 mi) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Ohio's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Ohio arrives.
