The tower was first lit in 1871 and no longer serves as a light for ships. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The sandstone tower on the bluff in the village of Fairport Harbor, dark since 1925, is a marine museum whose tower is open in summer.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park, 250 m (821 ft) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Ohio's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Ohio arrives.
