The tower was first lit in 1892 and no longer serves as a light for ships. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A cream brick "castle" beside the Mackinac Bridge in Mackinaw City, dark since the bridge opened in 1957 and now a museum run by Mackinac State Historic Parks.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Village Park, Mackinaw City, 375 m (1,229 ft) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Michigan's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Michigan arrives.
