Kailua Lighthouse

The tower was first lit in 1915 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows one white flash every 6 seconds, seen up to 13 nautical miles out. The concrete pyramid on Kukailimoku Point marks the western entrance to Kailua-Kona harbor and is reached along the shore from the Old Kona Airport park.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area, 1.1 km (0.7 mi) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Hawaiʻi's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Hawaiʻi arrives.
