The tower was first lit in 1894 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows one white flash every 15 seconds, seen up to 16 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The tallest lighthouse on the Wisconsin shore, an iron skeleton tower first put up at Chicago, stands in Point Beach State Forest; the station is private Coast Guard housing, and the tower is seen from the state forest beach.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Neshotah Park, Two Rivers, 7.4 km (4.6 mi) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Wisconsin's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Wisconsin arrives.
