The tower was first lit in 1896 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows a red light that goes dark briefly every 4 seconds, seen up to 7 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It stands above the ferry harbor at Isabel Segunda on the north shore of Vieques and houses a small museum of the island's maritime history.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Vieques ferry terminal, Isabel Segunda, 229 m (752 ft) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Puerto Rico's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Puerto Rico arrives.
