Lighthouse · Vieques, Puerto Rico

Faro de Puerto Ferro

The tower was first lit in 1896 and no longer serves as a light for ships. Dark since 1926 and starting to collapse, the ruin stands in the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge on the island's south coast, a short walk from a gravel road; the tower is closed.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Vieques ferry terminal, Isabel Segunda, 6.6 km (4.1 mi) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Puerto Rico's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Puerto Rico arrives.
