Bodie Island
Now a peninsula attached to the northern beaches, Bodie Island runs from Nags Head south to Oregon Inlet and carries the Bodie Island Lighthouse, Coquina Beach and the Oregon Inlet fishing center. The name is pronounced 'body' and dates from the 18th century, when it was a true island cut by inlets since closed.
