Ship John Shoal Lighthouse

The tower was first lit in 1877 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows one white flash every 5 seconds, seen up to 16 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its cast-iron tower was shown at the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia before it was set on a caisson in upper Delaware Bay. It is reached only by boat.
