The tower was first lit in 1849 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows a white light, on and off for equal times, every 6 seconds, seen up to 9 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Known as the Maurice River Lighthouse until 1913, it stands on the shore at East Point near Heislerville, where the Maurice River meets Delaware Bay. It is the second-oldest lighthouse in New Jersey.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from East Point, Maurice River, 74 m (244 ft) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. New Jersey's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when New Jersey arrives.
