Shipwreck · Munising, Michigan

Bermuda

A wooden schooner that sank in the Munising area on October 15, 1870, carrying iron ore. She sits upright and largely intact in Murray Bay off Grand Island, her top deck about 12 ft (4 m) down in about 30 ft of water: a boat dive or snorkel, and a stop for the glass-bottom boat tours from Munising. She is buoyed, in the Alger Underwater Preserve; under Michigan law, taking or altering anything from a wreck needs a state permit.
