The tower was first lit in 1930 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows a white light that goes dark briefly every 4 seconds, seen up to 13 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A white tower on a concrete crib about a mile off Cheboygan State Park, built to run without keepers; it is seen from the park beach and from summer lighthouse cruises.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Cheboygan State Park beach, 1.7 km (1.0 mi) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Michigan's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Michigan arrives.

Not for navigation. Positions and depths come from public charts and records, with their sources named above; they are for looking, not for piloting a boat.
