The tower was first lit in 1948 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows one red flash every 4 seconds, seen up to 10 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A red steel tower at the end of the south pier of the Pine River channel, beside Lake Michigan Beach in Charlevoix.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Lake Michigan Beach, Charlevoix, 434 m (1,423 ft) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Michigan's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Michigan arrives.
