Lighthouse · Alpena, Michigan
Middle Island Lighthouse
The tower was first lit in 1905 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows one white flash every 10 seconds, seen up to 14 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A white tower with an orange band on Middle Island, about ten miles north of Alpena; a keepers' association restores it and runs the fog signal building as a bed and breakfast.
