The tower was first lit in 1855 and no longer serves as a light for ships. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The oldest screw-pile lighthouse in Maryland marked Seven Foot Knoll at the mouth of the Patapsco from 1855 until 1988, when it was lifted onto Pier 5 in Baltimore's Inner Harbor; Historic Ships in Baltimore runs it as a museum.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Inner Harbor promenade, Baltimore, 350 m (1,148 ft) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Maryland's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Maryland arrives.
