Lighthouse · Frederick Sound, Alaska
Five Finger Lighthouse
The tower was first lit in 1935 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows one white flash every 10 seconds, seen up to 14 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. With Sentinel Island it was one of Alaska's first two federal lighthouses, lit in 1902; the present concrete tower replaced the first after a fire. It stands on the southernmost Five Finger island in Frederick Sound, reached only by boat.
