The tower was first lit in 1933 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows one white flash every 5 seconds, seen up to 14 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It stands in Browns Point Lighthouse Park, across Commencement Bay from Tacoma.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Browns Point Lighthouse Park, 80 m (262 ft) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Washington's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Washington arrives.
