The tower was first lit in 1881 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows one white flash every 4 seconds, seen up to 7 nautical miles out. A small iron tower, faded from red to rose, at the north end of Isle La Motte; its keeper's house is a private home and the light was restored to the tower in 2002.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Fishing access, West Shore Road, Alburgh, 2.5 km (1.5 mi) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Vermont's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Vermont arrives.
