The tower was first lit in 1862 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows a white light, on and off for equal times, every 10 seconds. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Two towers on the Navesink Highlands above Sandy Hook Bay, now a museum in the Twin Lights State Historic Site, where visitors can climb the north tower. A small light still shines from the north tower.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from North Beach Observation Deck, Sandy Hook, 8.0 km (5.0 mi) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. New Jersey's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when New Jersey arrives.
