The tower was first lit in 1892 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows two white flashes every 5 seconds, seen up to 10 nautical miles out. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The red brick lighthouse on Agate Bay, the oldest working light in Minnesota, is a museum and bed and breakfast run by the Lake County Historical Society.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Lakeview Park, Two Harbors, 851 m (2,792 ft) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Minnesota's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Minnesota arrives.
