The tower was first lit in 1922 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows two white flashes every 15 seconds, seen up to 14 nautical miles out. It stands on Coast Guard land beside the golf course of the former Ramey Air Force Base in Aguadilla; the grounds and tower are closed, and the ruins of the 1889 lighthouse lie by the shore about a mile to the west.

How to see it

Above water and inside the horizon from Surfer’s Beach, Aguadilla, 1.2 km (0.7 mi) away, so on a clear day it can be seen from there, and CoastFinder puts a label on it.

On the website for now. Puerto Rico's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Puerto Rico arrives.
