Shoal · Ocracoke, North Carolina
Hatteras Inlet Bar
The shifting ocean bar of Hatteras Inlet between Hatteras and Ocracoke islands, opened by the same 1846 hurricane that cut Oregon Inlet. Charted depths across the bar are unreliable and the buoyed channel is moved frequently by the Coast Guard.
