Shipwreck · Hatteras Island, North Carolina

Lancing

A tanker, a former whaling factory ship, sunk by a U-boat off Cape Hatteras on 7 April 1942. Her position here is NOAA's, which NOAA grades as accurate only to 1 to 3 miles and later failed to confirm. The dive lists put her about 13 km to the south-south-west in 140 to 160 ft, so treat this position, and the depth read from the seabed near it, as uncertain.
