The last of the tall brick lighthouses built on the Outer Banks, lit in 1875 to close the dark gap between Bodie Island and Cape Henry. The 162 ft (49 m) tower was left unpainted red brick as its daymark and shows a white flash every 20 seconds. It stands in the village of Corolla and is open for climbing in season.
