Lighthouse · Evanston, Illinois

Waukegan Harbor Light

The tower was first lit in 1889 and is still an aid to navigation. Its light shows a green light that goes dark briefly every 4 seconds, seen up to 12 nautical miles out. A cast-iron tower without its lantern at the end of the pier at the foot of Madison Street; a 1967 fire destroyed the fog signal house and lantern, but the tower survived and still carries the light.

How to see it

On the website for now. Illinois's lighthouses are in the web viewer first, and they are coming to the CoastFinder app, which covers the North Carolina coast today. Follow @coastfinderapp to hear when Illinois arrives.
