Mandalay
A 112-foot steel-hulled schooner built in 1928 by George Lawley & Son. She ran aground on Long Reef on New Year’s Day 1966 after her captain misjudged his distance from Fowey Rocks. Her remains lie in very shallow water, about 8 to 11 ft (2 to 3 m), a snorkel stop on Biscayne National Park’s Maritime Heritage Trail, reached by boat only. Use the park’s mooring buoys (four hours per boat) and approach slowly in the shallows; take nothing.
